Beatrix Potter nació en Londres , Gran Bretaña el 28 de julio de 1866 y falleció el 22 de diciembre de 1943.

Fue una escritora, ilustradora, fabulista de literatura infantil​ y naturalista.

Su personaje más famoso es Peter Rabbit.

                                

Su padre, Rupert Potter, era un abogado amante del arte y la                                                                                                 fotografía que, tal vez por eso, nunca ejerció su profesión. Helen Leech, su   madre, pertenecía a una adinerada familia dedicada a la industria textil en Lancashire.
